Blog Entry – Day 6

Diary Number: 6

Date: 19/11/2018

Daily Summary

It’s hard to imagine we’re on week 2 already. The first week absolutely flew. Our duties today were mainly a repeat of what we did last week, but today we worked independently.

Learning & Positive Aspects of the Day

The most positive aspect for me is to see how well all the staff work together as part of a team and that they feel so confident of our capabilities they are entrusting us to work independently for the next few days whilst a staff member is on annual leave.

Challenges Encountered

Whilst filling in a guest check in form this morning I was doing great until I needed to ask for them to sign the form and I forgot myself and asked for their signature instead of saying ‘firma por favor’.

Self-Evaluation

Very impressed with myself of how much information I’m retaining, so much so I was able to work independently today.

Cultural

Yesterday we visited Museo Picasso Málaga. I absolutely loved it there and could have stayed all day. My favourite paintings were “child with a shovel” which was oil on canvas and “child with toy” which was charcoal, pastel and gouache on paper. I studied art history for my leaving certificate so was passionate to see all these on display in one place.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I was drawn to his “head of a warrior” which I wouldn’t have normally thought would have been to my taste. Most of these works of art are on temporary loan at the museum.
