Blog Entry -Day 9

Diary Number: 9

Date: 22/11/2018

Daily Summary

Today there was a new girl started working in Hotel Carlos V. I helped show her around the hotel and brought her up to speed with the hotel procedures.

Learning & Positive Aspects of the Day

I’ve learnt how important customer service is in the hospitality industry. Customer service is a role that I particularly enjoy and want to pursue in the future. This Erasmus trip giving me the opportunity of working at Hotel Carlos V, has confirmed to me that this is the right direction for me for my future employment.

Challenges Encountered

I’ve learnt that guests come in all shapes and sizes and with all different personalities, cultures and ranges of demands and expectations. I have seen first hand how I need to deal with them appropriately without my face giving away how I really feel when faced with very unusual requests.

Self-Evaluation

I’ve learnt to deal effectively with people no matter what their demands are and not to let my own feelings show through no matter how unusual people’s requests are.

Cultural

After spending the afternoon visiting the local markets we went to a local venue where we received our Erasmus + and europass certificates.
